Drug Free Workplace to Implement Two Policy Changes
The Plumbing, Piping, and Refrigeration Industry Drug Free Workplace’s Policy Committee recently approved and will be implementing two changes to the program’s policy. The first change provides contractors with the option to now have pre-employment tests that result in a dilute sample recollected. If employers choose to recollect dilute pre-employment tests, they must do it each time a pre-employment test has a dilute result. Secondly, a slight modification was made to the disciplinary action for a second policy violation. Going forward, all second policy violations will result in an automatic thirty day suspension from work at the conclusion of which, the EAP will verify completion of the recommended treatment program (if applicable), and the employee must pass a return-to-duty test.
