Employee Assistance Program
2016 saw more than 100 employees of UMCA contractors use the Employee Assistance program administered by Blomquist Hale.
The services offered are still under-used, according to Sean Morris, UMCA’s account manager. About 8.1 percent of eligible employees used any part of the program in 2016, but that small percentage already sees a sizable impact in potential savings for employers.

Although the Employee Assistance Program is a part of the Drug Free Workplace initiative, getting help for addiction is only a fraction of help employees can find. Less than a quarter of employees accessing the program were referred there after a drug test. A whopping 74 percent of employees who did use the program, came on their own accord.
Some of the programs employees can access include:
- Financial Counseling
- Crisis Intervention
- Family Counseling
- Individual Counseling
- Group Counseling
There are also company-wide programs available, including
- Supervisory & Management Training
- Risk Reduction & Assistance with Troubled Employees
- Change Courses
- Customizable Training
- Behavioral Wellness
Life affects work and productivity.
