UMCA Membership Meets Mid January
The UMCA membership met on January 16, 2019 at the Grand America Hotel for its 2019 Annual Business Meeting. The meeting was led by UMCA President Jason Bleak, Industrial Piping & Welding with members of the Board Of Directors reporting on the current state of UMCA affairs. The committees reported on progress at the Utah Career Center, the state of the Utah Pipe Trades Health & Welfare/Pension, current Labor Relations/Contract Administration, implementation of the Drug Free Workplace program, expectations for the upcoming legislative committee, and an update on the MCAA. The nominating committee also proposed and the membership approved new Board Officer appointee Tony Lewis of American Mechanical Systems Service as Treasurer and Fred Timmerman of West-Tech Building Service as a Board Member.
The evening continued with a special presentation by Rep. Robert Spendlove, Senior Vice President at Zions Bank. He spoke with members about current labor statistics in the state of Utah and the emerging trends that will affect business across sectors. His presentation is available below.
