LARRY HANSEN

K.O.H MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS

Larry specializes in plumbing & welding and attended the Utah Career Center for 6 years. After graduating from the Utah Career Center at 24 Larry went on to work in the field for 15 years. For the past 13 years he has worked in the office managing field work and helping with estimates an service work. Larry is a 50% owner in K.O.H Mechanical with clients across the state of Utah.

BRIAN ARNOLD

AMERICAN MECHANICAL SYSTEMS SERVICE, LLC.

Brian attended the Utah Career Center for 5 years and graduated at 26. He attended trade school for 2 years prior to entering the apprenticeship program and now specializes in Controls, Boilers, Chillers, and Systems. He has been in the trades for 20 years and is now one of three owners of American Mechanical Systems Service, LLC. He holds many roles in the company including sales, installing and servicing building automation controls, accounting duties, and many other aspects of what the trade requires. 

From Brian: “Work hard, take on responsibilities for yourself, for your own knowledge, for future gain of yourself, and for your employer. Strive to become one of the best at your trade and learn to line in a zone where you feel uncomfortable, because that is the zone where you will learn the most. Don’t be afraid to fail and when you do fail, LEARN from your failures. Having an open mind, and being a good listener is a key to being the best at what you do.

CharLES Thad Torres

FIRST SERVICE MECHANICAL

Thad specializes in HVAC and attended the Utah Career Center for 4 years, graduating at 24. While enrolled at Salt Lake Community College, Thad decided to enroll at the Utah Career Center. He is now the owner of First Service Mechanical and bid projects and oversees the operation sales and trains his apprentices.

From Thad: “You will learn more and have greater opportunity than you will anywhere else. With your school you will get out of it what you put into it. You will also be able to associate with some of the best in the trade. Being a member of the Utah Pipe Trades gives not just an education but the ability to hone your skills through further education. Our graduates build power plants and work on highly sophisticated systems. Is it easy? No, but it shouldn’t be. By graduating from the UCC you will have the opportunity to be one of the best. The only thing stopping you, is you.

Tony Lewis

AMERICAN MECHANICAL SYSTEMS SERVICE, LLC.

Tony attended the Utah Career Center from 1992 – 1997 and graduated at 25. He attended SLCC Refrigeration Program for a year prior to being accepted into the apprenticeship program.He has been in the trades for 28 years and specializes in boilers, chiller and systems. He is currently one of the three owners of American Mechanical Systems Service, LLC.With both of his business partners also graduates of the Utah Career Center. Today Tony handles the administrative side of the business and works in sales, estimating, quoting, customer relations and occasional field work.

From Tony: “Learn all you can learn and strive each and everyday to be the best you can be. Find someone that you admire and respect to emulate. Look for opportunities to improve yourself. Be proud of what you do and the accomplishments you make, big or small. Share your knowledge with others and be willing to give back.”
